Marketing & Purchasing Department
Marketing activities were initiated since 1998. Since then a number of new products have been introduced for commercial sale in the local market. Tsheringma Safflower and Cinnamon Herbal Tea and Tsheringma Incense Powder are two most popular products at the moment. There are also few other products in the process of research and development.
As of now, none of the products are exported. However, our products have reached many parts of the world through individuals who take back home after visiting our country, for their personal consumption and as gifts. There are plans of this organization becoming a self-sustaining, and a dynamic profit centre of the country with operational autonomy, producing and supplying traditional medicines and herbal products of international quality standards (cost effective, safe, and of high therapeutic value). There will opportunities to further diversify the range of products and explore markets in the SAARC Region and beyond. Markets in the Region will be explored for sourcing the low altitude medicinal plants and other medicinal ingredients to have a competitive raw material sourcing strategy. The SAARC Region is a vast source of medicinal plants and herbal products. Opportunities for two way trade relation in both raw herbs as well as finished herbal products exist to be explored.
With the assistance from the European Union under the Medicinal Plants Phase II Project, the capacity building of this Department has been given focus. A marketing strategy and a plan to market products both in the domestic and international markets has been developed based on the capacity of the organization. Market studies are conducted as part of ongoing activities to understand the potential of Regional and international markets.
